In this group exhibition, Are you in the room?, the work of three artists Dean Carson, Matthew Hawtin, and Jim Mroczkowski come together. I was initially intrigued by the differences in each of these artists practices and studio processes, but at the same time I could not help but draw parallels between them. The relationships to space, to perception, and our understanding of meaning are in some cases physical and in others conceptual, psychological within the work. In all cases the viewer as well as the artist pose questions as the work pushes and pulls against perceived boundaries. This exhibition opens on Saturday January 14 and runs until March 3, 2011. The opening reception will take place on Thursday January 19 at 7pm, the artists will be in attendance.
