WindsorEats is hosting a 4-day celebration for Cinco de May.

The celebrations are free to attend and we’ll be bringing in live music and more to compliment to traditional Mexican food being served by Rico Taco and cocktails from our very own WindsorEats bar which will be pumping out classic cocktails like our popular margaritas and mojitos all day and night.

Here are all the details you need to know to celebrate with us:

It’s all taking place at the WindsorEats location at 400 Erie Street East. Our entrance is in the alley (look for the green door) and our building has a beautiful mural on it showcasing some of the history in the McDougall Street Corridor.

WHAT WILL THERE BE TO EAT?

Rico Taco Mexican Street Eats will be serving up some of their favourites along with some additional special treats. Their birria tacos and fish tacos will still be available, but joining them will be carnitas tacos, asada tacos, guacamole and their popular elotes (Mexican street corn) will be making a comeback.

COME DANCE WITH US!

The Windsor Salsa & Bachata group will be joining us Friday, May 5 at 8pm for free dance lessons on our patio and an evening of dancing under the stars.

They’ll then rejoin us on Saturday afternoon from 2pm to 5pm for some more dancing!

WILL THERE BE LIVE MUSIC?

On Saturday, May 6, enjoy the beautiful sounds of some Spanish guitar under the stars on the WindsorEats patio. The Transeo band will bring their mix of Spanish and Flamenco to the stage from 530pm to 745pm. The duo are seasoned guitarists whose music makes guests feel like they’re vacationing in paradise. Their creative and catchy songs, both original and covers, hit the mark and will be sure to move you.

The Sabor Latino Band will follow them up providing live music on Saturday, May 6 at 8pm. The band, formerly known as the Farms Music Band Association, will be best remembered for their performances at the Mexican Village during Carrousel of the Nations. It is formed by a group of friends in Leamington and Windsor, Ontario, who decided to blend their musical talents from their Latin countries of origin to start creating a band, thus sharing Latin music and their Culture to the community.

Outside of these times, Latin themed music will fill the space providing a fun and lively atmosphere.

Along with our popular margaritas and mojitos, WindsorEats will be making a special cocktail menu for the occasion. Rest assured, our margarita flights will be available to enjoy.

We’ll also be serving up locally made cerveza from Frank Brewing.

IS THE EVENT FAMILY FRIENDLY?

Of course! We always love seeing entire families enjoying our space and our events and this is no different. As always, we’ll have games like Jenga and Connect Four out on our tables both inside and outside, there’s cornhole, and of course we always have colouring sheets and crayons for the little ones to keep themselves entertained.

IS THE EVENT PET FRIENDLY?

Again, absolutely! We also love seeing everyone’s fur babies. We know how hard it can be to leave them at home after spending all day at work or elsewhere, so feel free to bring them along and we’ll have water bowls ready for when they’re seated. Since it’ll be a busy day, we simply ask that you ensure your fur baby is well behaved and leashed. And don’t forget to bring some bags for any accidents.

WILL THERE STILL BE TRIVIA ON FRIDAY?

100% yes! While the patio will be bumpin’, at 8pm on the Friday the inside will be filled with trivia goers.

A fun way to enjoy the Friday night is to come along for our Friday Night Lights bike ride. It’ll be the launch night of the 2023 Friday Night Lights season. For $6 in advance (or $10 cash day of), you’ll head off at 8pm on a pub crawl by bike and return to WindsorEats for some more Mexican food and drink around 11pm.

The fun thing about Friday Night Lights is that everyone decks their bikes out in bright lights for the ride. It’s definitely a sight to see and be a part of!
